You can take the girl out of Jersey

but you can't take the Jersey out of the girl. Not all of it, anyway.

When I moved to South Carolina, I figured that the chances of seeing snow again would be pretty slim. Little did I know that the longer I lived here, the more snow I would see. It's only the second week in January and the second snow storm of the winter season is forecasted to start sometime in the middle of the night. We have had snow at least once for the past 4 winters and we had a pretty bad ice storm in 2003 or 2004 that caused us to lose power for 2 days.

Schools are already cancelled for tomorrow and a lot of businesses will be closed as well. All state agencies are closed so Todd will have off tomorrow as well. I love that we will all get to spend an extra day at home together. I do think it's a bit ridiculous that we have not yet seen the first flake of snow in our area of the state and we are already in a state of emergency. I didn't dare venture to the grocery store today! I do understand that South Carolina is not equipped for a big storm but I think that some people tend to overreact.

If it does snow tomorrow, I do want to get the kids out in it for just a little while. I remember how excited I used to get when it snowed when I was younger. Michael wasn't too crazy about it last year and he did not like wearing plastic bags on his feet to keep them warm and dry. If I think about it, I didn't like wearing the plastic bags on my feet either when I was his age!

I love that they close everything down before the snow even starts. I hope you get a lovely snow day for the kids, and that the snow melts quickly.
