laughter was heard in our house last night. For the first time from Katie! And it was then followed by a squeal. I imagine that this is what we have to look forward to in the future when Katie is a teenager. She is such a happy and good natured baby most of the time. It's hard to capture her smile on camera...it's like she reserves them for you in person. She is very interactive and "talks" to you a lot.
Every milestone with Katie is just as exciting as they were when Michael did them. In fact, I have learned not to rush things with her and just enjoy them as they come. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that she is our second child and most likely, our last. Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that we now know the joy of having children and the experience of everything that they do, good or bad.

Well said! And what a cute picture. I agree--knowing what to expect (the good, the bad, the ugly) makes things easier the second time around. Even if some things are harder, you know there's a light at the end of the tunnel!
BTW--so you're a gamecock! I'm actually embarrassed to admit I was rejected TWICE from South Carolina's museum studies program. But I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason. Who knows what my life would be like had I been accepted. I'm so glad things worked out the way they did.
I just love the baby squeals and laughter. Such unbridled happiness! How can you not be in a great mood after hearing and seeing your baby so happy? I'm cherishing the milestones also, for all of the reasons that you stated.
So cute! She looks like such a wise baby.
Will laughed for the first time yesterday and it was SO sweet.
Hey I don't think I have your email address but you can dry herbs using this method:

We used dried oregano all year in pizzas and sauces!
That's so awesome!! I can't wait to hear Alastair laugh!! Maybe soon, he's not much younger then Katie!!!
